Cebu Business I.T. Incubator

Just got my Globe Visibility Prepaid Kit!

The nature of my work requires me to stay online as much as I could. I am a Web Developer/I.T. Consultant and a blogger (b5media). And, being online is already my necessity. At school, we have free WiFi Access. At home, I am connected via SmartBroadband. I sometimes stays in local cafes like Mr. Bean Cafe at Catribo Complex, CoffeeMyx at Nunez Ext., or 3rd Cup Cafe along Camins Ave. where they have free WiFi Access as well, when I feel exhausted working from home. I usually stay at Mr. Bean Cafe, my remote office aside from my home office. Sometimes, when WiFi connection is down, I feel disconnected as well. I can’t just rely to these and needs backup.

New Books Purchased: How to Write Better English and Chinese in Plain English

Last August, I went to Manila and attended the WordCamp Philippines. And since I was in Manila, I never forgot to drop by National Bookstore to hunt some nice books. So, after an hour of looking and browsing from shelf to shelf at the National Bookstore (SM MOA Branch), I finally bought two books and here they are:

How to Write Better English and Chinese in Plain English

How to Write Better English by Robert Allen
I bought this one because I need to review as I will be doing some serious writing soon, like my research paper, blogging, and write a book! (Ambisyon!). I was to buy a book entitled “The Elements of Style” by Strunk and White but I was not able to grab one because they don’t have a copy of it. I own one but I forgot where I left it when I was staying in Manila last 2006. (Naiwala ko! Tsk.) I ended up buying this book as an alternative. Browsed the book already but did not finished reading it yet.

Chinese in Plain English
I am taking a short Mandarin course this semester, and it’s almost over! Soon, I will do no rush during noon time and attend this 3 units course. So, having myself equipped with the basics like Pinyin and tones, I decided to purchase the book for future reference since I am really into learning this language. The book is good for beginners like me and I recommend it.

Now, I just hope that I can make most out of these books.

Zamboanga Peninsula Bloggers Meetup

As we are planning to organize a bloggers event here in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, we scheduled to have a short meetup last Tuesday, September 30 ,2008 at Mr. Bean Cafe, Catribo Complex. We talked about some possible bloggers project and outreach programs, aside from having the 1st Zamboanga Peninsula Bloggers Congress early next year. It was initially planned to have the event this November but then the group decided to move it early next year to give us ample time for preparation.

Here are some photos taken during the meetup:

jetRuby is trying to explore Macromedia Fireworks, told her that I use that tool for simple image editing.
mostlovedjames and yolynne are busy sharing thoughts about the congress.
Here we are, some bloggers from Zamboanga City. We also have representatives from other areas but they were not able to make it that night.
From Left to Right (PLURK IDs): mostlovedjames, jeromelocson, jetRuby, marfhra, lea, luckwatchero, yolynne, and beWear.

We will post more updates soon about Zamboanga Peninsula Bloggers in our official website www.zambopeninsulabloggers.org!
