The Google Wave Preview
A couple of weeks ago, I viewed this video over YouTube about the new and exciting product of Google called Google Wave previewed during the Google I/O 2009.
Google Wave is coming soon later this year. The video showcases the product preview about the Google Wave platform, some appication demos and usage of APIs, allowing Wave to extend to other web applications. Generally, Google Wave is a tool for online collaboration and communication, which makes things (e.g. chat, email, text, documents, photos, videos, maps, notes, etc.) more integrated, easy to manage and more interactive. Setting Up a Website with Domain Name and Web Hosting
If you are planning to put up a website for your online presence, maybe for a portfolio site, a blog, or for an e-commerce site, you need to understand the technicalities behind how a website works. This post discusses on how to set up a website with your own domain name and web hosting. But if you’re running out of budget, you can opt to register with some free hosting and subdomains sites like Google Pages, Blogspot, WordPress, etc.
Now, a website needs to have a domain name and web hosting. Domain name is a user-friendly name that you type on your browser address field. It is what is mapped to your web hosting server IP address. A domain name can be of top-level domain name which include .com, .net, and .org (the generic domain names). For country-level domain name, you can have .ph, .us, .ae, etc. Top-level domain name (TLD) are cheaper compared to country-level domain name (ccTLD). For a year registration, TLD costs around $10-$15 while ccTLD costs around $30+. You can buy domain name at a domain name registrars such as GoDaddy.com and Network Solutions. Creating Executable JAR File with NetBeans
Here’s a quick guide on how to setup your NetBeans IDE to create an executable JAR file output. If you’re using JCreator to create JAR file, click here.
- Once you already created your Project using NetBeans IDE, right click the project name and click Properties.
- A new window will appear, the Project Properties. On the left side, click Packaging.
- The right panel will change and check Compress JAR File and Build JAR after compiling.
- JAR file saving location is indicated at the text box labeled Jar File.
- Then, Click OK. Now, compile your project and go to the saving location and try to click the JAR to execute your application.

The Purple Hunt has phases. Right now, we are still at Phase 1 where Purple Hunters are asked to look for the Purple Ticket.
Phase 2 & 3 will start on June 16, 2009. That is when clues will be given out. If you have correctly guessed the answer to the clues given, then you stand a chance to win one of six Canon digital cameras (in Phase 2) or one of six Blackberry smartphones (in Phase 3).
Phase 4 is an actual footrace that will be held within Metro Manila thus only those from the area may join this event.
