BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011 in Singapore

Thanks to BlackBerry through Mobile Monday Manila for the free conference pass for the recently concluded BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011. It was suppose to be held in Bangkok but due to the recent flooding it was transferred to Singapore at the Suntec International Convention Center. And with that, we were entitled for travel incentives for the change of venue.

BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011

It was a 2-day event, December 7-8, 2011, with awesome break-out sessions. DevCon Java Code Camp Roadshow in Cebu

Last Friday, June 10, 2011, I attended the DevCon Java Code Camp Roadshow in Cebu City. It was a wholeday geek event created by the geeks for the geeks, that’s what DevCon is about.  Held at the Santa Maria Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Hotel, many participated from the academe (both students and instructors), as well as from the industry (software engineers, developers, programmers, etc). And, I was happy to see some of my friends around and I got to chat with them a little.

The event was basically in coordination with the Cebu Business Month 2011 with its theme Business Beyond Boundaries, in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Association of Filipino Java Developers (PinoyJUG).

Mr. Jerry Rapes, President of DevCon Foundation, gave the opening remarks. He introduced the participants about the foundation and how technology is now compared to years ago. Also, Mr. Nonoy Espelita from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce talked about the organization and how the young people can contribute to the shaping of the future with the use of technology. Read more…
