Yet another Web Development Training with National Computer Center
I was again in Davao City last September 5 to 8, 2011 for another batch of the 4-day Interactive Web Development Training (Using Joomla! CMS) for e-LGUs with National Computer Center (NCC). That was my 3rd time to conduct the same training in Davao. Even though it was really a short notice on the schedule, I still said yes because I like sharing knowledge and helping local government units have their online presence and make it more interactive as possible.

Around 13 participants attended this batch and they are from different LGUs (Local Government Units) in Mindanao. Half the size compared to what I usually have from my previous trainings, which gave me enough time to address all their concerns.
It’s always been a pleasure doing this training and I’m glad that the participants learned something new, which is basically about the Joomla! CMS — on how to manage and customize it, from this short course.
E-Learning Centre’s Web Development Training using Joomla for IT Professionals
Last week from June 21-24, 2011, I conducted another batch of Web Development Training using Joomla! with E-Leaning Centre, Inc. Ms. Yolynne Medina, OIC of the Centre, invited me to conduct the training, to educate the local IT professionals with this open source CMS; around 11 people participated the training program.

Topics discussed where HTML/CSS Basics, PHP/MySQL Recap, and of course and in-depth discussion and hands-on with Joomla! CMS like backend management, customizing Joomla! templates and even creating templates from scratch. We also explored on how to add social networking elements like Facebook plugins, Twitter buttons, YouTube videos, etc.
I’m glad that I took this opportunity to share and educate about this open source technology. I hope the participants learned something new during the course. Thanks again to E-Learning Centre for inviting me to do this training. It was fun!
If you want to contact E-Learning Centre for more IT Trainings, please call at 992-7269 or send an SMS @ 0916-1524-811(TM) and look for Ms. Yolynne Medina. Their office is located at 3F ZGU-II Bldg. Gov. Alvarez St.,

The Google I/O 2011 Live Experience

Earlier this week was the most anticipated event by Google, the Google I/O 2011, which targets to bring developers around the world together and experience the latest technologies from Google. I was supposed to be there courtesy of Google Technology User Groups (GTUG) but visa not granted. Sigh.
The Google I/O 2011 Conference was held last May 10-11, 2011 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA. There is also an I/O Bootcamp for the newbie developers a day before.
Anyway, I still had the chance to monitor the event since Google I/O team had the event livestreamed online via Google I/O Live using YouTube live streaming feature from the comfort of my bedroom.
I was awake until 8AM in the morning since the streaming starts around 12:30AM in the Philippines. Well, not complaining here because I am used to this schedule. I usually work at night.
