Cuil, the latest search engine, is making a buzz over the web today. It is over the news sites and blogs. Might as well share my review about this Cuil thing. Is it cool? Let’s find out.
The Core Technology: Search

As for now Cuil provides keyword search. Yes, no image search, no news search, no directory search.. just KEYWORD search. I know that it’s just their initial public offer and more will be offered soon. Anyway, back to search…. in terms of results? Compared to Google, I prefer much the results of Google as it shows relevant results. Maybe it’s with their indexing algorithm that matters. Cuil may have more websites indexed and spidered; populated in their database, but still relevant result counts most to search engine users. Right? I hope they will improve this area soon.
On Layout

Cuil is really cool with its layout. It has nice black, white, and blue combination. It also has tabbed results, cool result summary with thumbnail images, and results by category. The presentation of results are in columns which is not the traditional search engine results page. Maybe Cuil is starting a new era in search result pages… But I do not even know what is my result #1, #2 or #10… they are not labeled. That’s their drawback with their cool layout.
And…
Cuil uses AJAX technology to provide more dynamic presentation of results.

What i like most about cuil is it automatically suggests search terms as you’re typing in the search box. other than that, i better use google.
btw, there’s another search engine on the block that’s worth visiting. it’s Find.com, you may want to check it out and rant about it
