Spam Alert: Unsolicited Facebook Photo Tagging

Share

All of us enjoy Facebook right? Of course! Connecting and interacting with friends online is just fun. And with the games and the different online  applications it has, you’ll surely forget about your other social networking accounts.  Just like what happened to me.

Anyway, one great feature with Facebook is the tagging. It allows you to tag your friends in a wall post, images and notes. This tag will alert the corresponding friend and gets notified. If you happened to upload a group picture that you recently took during a party, you can tag your friends which are present in that photo. This photo will be duplicated to your friend’s album. The advantage of this is that there is no need for your friends to re-upload same photo.

But, there’s a drawback. Recently, some of my friends are complaining about unsolicited photo tagging. Apparently, Facebook photo tagging is now becoming  “spam” to others. Usually, these tagging incidents are with a purpose of selling items and advertisements. It’s quite annoying to see albums with photos which are not that important to you but they are there. Although you can remove your tagged name, still, it gives you annoyance seeing those on your wall and album if you don’t have time to remove the tag.

Anyway, I hope Facebook will do something about this. Just something to share about this unsolicited Facebook photo tagging. If users wants to tag for advertising or selling, they can use the marketplace section of Facebook to do such “business” activity. Agree?
