I personally manage accounts from different social networking sites. I have account with Plurk, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, etc. But I do not update them frequently except for my Facebook and Plurk, as most of my friends are online with those networks.
Recently, I realized that there might be a way to synchronize my status updates, and there is a way – Ping.fm. I did signed up and immediately linked my social network account to my Ping.fm account. I had my Twitter, Facebook, Plurk and LinkedIn accounts synchonized in updating status, as shown in the screenshot below.
What I am more grateful about Ping.fm is that they offer alot of tools to let you post updates through Ping.fm, via their API. Developers created applications that will serve as an interface between your Ping.fm account and your social network sites. And since I am always online over Yahoo! Messenger, I decided to opt with that service. I just added the YM ID pingdotfm and sent a message containing my verification code provided by Ping.fm. Now, I am all set and enjoying this service. You can also opt to use the Skype IM, email, text/sms, AOL, MSN, Windows Messenger, iPhone web apps, or to any Ping.fm third party applications you want to use.
One thing that I wish is that there will be a service too that will synch all the replies from your status updates. This will give you a centralized notification on replies to your updates. This only means that you save more time visiting each social network sites you manage (assuming you have many of them).
Anyway, I also installed another plugin to this blog. It is called the PingPressFM plugin which allows you to post status updates when you posted something in your WordPress blogs. And, I am trying this one out now. I hope it will synchronize to all my social networks status update.
