A visit to Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu

Here are some photos taken during  my first few months here in Cebu. This was around December 2010 when me and my housemates decided to visit Mactan Shrine since we were at Lapu-Lapu City at that time.

The Lapu-Lapu shrine is a 20-meter bronze statue in Punta Engaño, Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines, erected in honor of Datu Lapu-Lapu, a Muslim king who defeated Spanish soldiers and killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the Battle of Mactan on 1521. [ source ]

White Sand Beach at Moalboal, Cebu

Cebu Province is a perfect getaway destination. Beaches are everywhere for you to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, island hopping and other fun water activities.

Last summer, me and my officemates decided to get one-day summer getaway at Moalboal White Sand Beach located at  southern part of Cebu Province. It was a low-budget trip which each of us spent only around 400-500 pesos for roundtrip from Cebu City, inclusive of fare, entrance fees and food.

From Cebu City, it is about 2.5 hrs bus ride going to Moalboal. Arriving at the Moalboal bus stop, you need to ride a 15-min. tricycle ride going to Basdaku (the name of the public beach we went.) It has fine white sand and clear waters perfect for snorkeling and diving. Here are some photos taken during our trip.
