Visited Google Singapore Office

I was in Singapore last week for a couple of days for the BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011. And of course, we took the opportunity to visit one of the famous tech companies in the world, Google, who has an office in Singapore. Ms. Aileen Apolo-de Jesus, who was the Google Philippine Country Consultant is now working in Google Singapore office. We contacted her and asked if we can visit their office and have a short tour. And so we visited Google Singapore Office which is located at 8 Marina View, Asia Tower 1, #30-01 Singapore.

Google Wallet, Making Your Phone Your Wallet

Google just recently released another service called Google Wallet. It like making your phone your wallet without the hassle of bringing cash. It serves like a prepaid card or can even link to your credit card (currently serving only to Citi MasterCard). It is secured and offers you savings and perks on using the app. Here’s the promotional video:

Export your Facebook friends to Google+

Have you heard that Facebook blocks the Facebook Friend Exporter, which is  a Google Chrome Extension that allows you export your Facebook friends list? No wonder… But we don’t have to fret, there are still different ways on how to export your Facebook friends to your new Google+ account. Here’s how:

Exploring The New Google+

It’s the recent buzz in the social web, the Google’s social networking site – Google+. Launched last week, I got an invite few hours after it’s initial launching from GTUG friends.  Currently, Google+ is in limited field trial which means you can publicly sign-up as of yet. You need an invite from a Google+ user for you to get in; ( leave a message if you want an invite.)

It is actually dubbed as the Google+ project: Real-life sharing rethought for the web. Many speculates it to be the Facebook killer. Also, many suggest that it is the combination of Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Who knows? Just let Google+ surprise us as it is gaining grounds on the social web. Read more…



Google I/O 2011 Live!

google io live 2011With the record-setting Google I/O ticket sold-out this year, that is within less than an hour, Google team decided to bring I/O 2011 live around the world to many developers who wasn’t able to get a ticket for the Moscone conference in San Francisco at the comfort of our own home or offices. They call this Google I/O 2011 Live!

(I’m suppose to go and attend Google I/O 2011 in San Francisco courtesy of the GTUG Community, but unfortunately my travel visa was not granted, sad to say. But thanks for the opporunity Google!  By the way, I am from GTUG Philippines, Zamboanga Chapter. )

The I/O conference in San Francisco will be broadcasted LIVE online on May 10-11, 2011 from 9AM to 6PM PDT on the official Google I/O website, bringing you the latest updates and happenings from Moscone Center.

So, what can we do from the Live broadcast?

  • Watch livestream video feeds from our two largest session rooms from 9:00 a.m PST to 6:00 p.m. PST during both days of the conference.
  • Read captions from the livestreamed sessions in real-time.
  • Be one of the first to know by getting your news direct from the source.
  • Submit your questions to our Sandbox developers.

Checkout the schedule of the different Google I/O Sessions that you might want to attend. Just don’t forget to do some timezone conversion since it will be broadcasting using the PST.
