Applying for a Google Job: How to Get Noticed?

Everybody knows how fun and cool it is to work at Google. It’s actually my dream to work at Google but I know it will take a miracle for me to get there. With all the aspirants who are sending their resumes to Google, I bet screening takes time and is crucial.

Anyway, I just want to share this video I found wherein Fitz and Ben, two engineers from our Chicago office, answer a user-submitted question about how to get your resume noticed by Google engineers.



Will Google Instant instantly change the way we search online?

Just this week, the search engine giant – Google, announced its newest update on their search engine — the Google Instant. Google Instant offers you instant search results as you type, providing users faster relevant search results realtime. As you type your keyword, Google Instant provides you a dropdown hint keywords relative to what you are typing, giving you options on keyword combination. As you set your keyword, the result list automatically updates itself, providing the most relevant sites. You don’t even have to hit the “Search” button, results will automatically show. I guess they’re using AJAX technology with that.

Google DevFest Philippines 2010 in Manila

Manila, Philippines -  Google developer advocates and engineers were sent to South East Asia to conduct a series of  DevFest showcasing latest Google technologies and developer products. Their first stop was in the Philippines. Held this Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Ayala TechnoHub, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, hundreds of developers and enthusiasts gathered at the mentioned place with excitement to hear the talks and demos from the speakers.

Speakers presented their respective topic(s) with passion. Christine Songco, Technical Program Manager – Developer Relations of Google, host of the event started by introducing the agenda/program, house rules, sponsors, and eventually welcomed the participants. Read more…



Google DevFest Philippines 2010

Google DevFest 2010 is on the roll and its kick-off will be at Sydney next week and the week after that would be South East Asia. The Google DevFest Philippines 2010 will be on July 6, 2010, Tuesday. Hopefully I can  attend this event and meet fellow developers and enthusiast, and speakers from Google.

Join us for a day focused on product talks, coding, demos and fun, where we’ll be covering topics such as Chrome/HTML5, App Engine, Social APIs and Maps API. Developer advocates and engineers will be there to show you the latest and greatest, as well as answer your questions and hear about what you’ve been working on.

Inspiring Innovation: The Google Way

Yesterday, March 12, 2010 (Friday), some representatives from Google visited Cebu City for the 2010 Innovation Forum. The event was organized by Google, Inc. , UPV Cebu – DOST Technology Business Incubator (TBI), GTUG – Cebu, and Ayala Technology Business Incubator (TBI). As a GTUG member based in Cebu, we were tasked help with the registration during the event, along with some student volunteers from UPV Cebu.

With the theme of “Inspiring Innovation: The Google Way,” the innovation forum brought more than 300 employees from IT companies, students and faculty members from different school, and representatives from the local government and media. As the Innovation Forum tagline goes, “where business, science and technology  meet,” the event basically brought together representatives from the IT industry, academe, and government.

Going to the program proper, Michi M. Barcelon, Lead of the Ayala Technology Business Incubation program introduced the crowd with what to expect during the event. She mentioned something about introducing innovation to the community and how can it be a good venture to start-up and the role of Ayala Foundation TBI. Read more…
