Microblogging in Philippines is just an SMS away with PHPlurk & PHTwitters
If you still don’t know, Philippines is the texting or SMS capital of the world as reported. Here’s a photo news by CNET News featuring “The Philippines as texting central“. Because of the low costing of SMS, no wonder Filipinos uses this service.
With this trend, innovative services via SMS is delivered to consumers for entertainment, business and other information-driven services. Even internet services can now be accessed via SMS. Updating your Plurk and Twitter timeline? You can do that with just an SMS away… that’s blogging instantly!
I was using GTalk to update my Twitter and was sad to know that they disabled their IM service via GTalk. So, I stopped updating my Twitter. Just yesterday, I tried Plurk — another micro-blogging service. It’s cool… just similar to Twitter and Pownce.
Micro-blogging service is becoming more popular. They are usually text updates, around 140 text, of any thoughts you want to share to your online community. They can be updated via email, SMS, from the web or 3rd party applications developed by some contributors. Also, common to all is that they offer widgets and tools that allow you to embed your micro-blog timeline updates. That’s why I have them in this blog site, a blog with micro-blogs.
Just Twitterific!
I have been actively participating in the Twitter Community recently. While enjoying sharing what I am doing at work, school and even just surfing around online or posting some blog entries, I also get updates of my friends latest news ( like what are they also doing, eating, watching, etc…) and even current events and public news. My personal network have grown quite by numbers and still adding more by following other Twitterers.
Why Am I using Twitter?
Personally, Twitter serves as some sort of an outlet for my emotions and share it to the world, as if I want someone to listen to me. And effectively, it somehow relieves my feelings. Twitter, being a social networking site, is really a great venue to find and know your friends. Read more…
