So, have you tried Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) yet? If not, you can still download it until today, August 20, 2009. After which, you can still have it but might require you to get a product key. Since this is still under the “Release Candidate” status, which means it is still under testing and bug fixing stage, your PC automatically sends information about bug reports to the team of Microsoft.

Windows 7 RC will expire by June 1, 2010 but the system will start reminding you about the expiration notice as early as March 1, 2010.
Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use.
But before installing this Windows 7 RC, you need to make sure that you have backup files and keep your PC updated for fixes and additional release notes. Here’s what you need to do if you want to install Windows 7 RC:
- Troubleshoot problems. You’re pretty much flying solo, so you’ll need to handle your own tech support, and rely on other RC testers for their know-how
- Burn an ISO file to make an installation DVD
- Install Windows
- Backup and restore your PC
- Set up a network
- Create and use a system recovery disk
